ANTIQUE JAPANESE BEKKO KUSHI/KOGAI SET Pierced Gilt Metal /Silver
Gorgeous Antique Japanese Bekko (Tortoise-Shell) Kushi (Comb) and Kogai (Bodkin) Set- in Pierced Metal Frame - The kushi with pierced designs, set nto a gilt metal frame with pierced floral designs; the kogai overlaid at the larger ends with gilt and silver pierced floral designs, in two pieces, when fit together form the fasening bar. Condition: Very good as would be commensurate with age and use, the two pieces where the kogai fit together with some chips and some age inclusions toward one end, which do not disturb the intergrity of the piece.

ANTIQUE JAPANESE MUSHA-E RETAINER DOLL - 9 1/2"
Antique Japanese Retainer Doll - shown in a typical kneeling position, wearing a jingasa and dressed in armour over a brocade jacket and print cotton pants, the attentive face with squinty eyes, the hands and fingers realistically rendered. The carved wooden head coated with gofun; realistic hair. Condition: Good, as would be commensurate with age, the face has been repaired at one time with some damage visible, and the jingasa is not original to the doll. He may have held a banner, but it is not present. It displays very well.
Original Japanese Woodblock Print Oban Tate-e Diptych, Musha-e (Warrior Print)- Yoshikazu Utagawa - 1854 - based on the famous story, 'The Chronicles of the Taiheiki - Gladiator-style combat between the evil magistrate Shiga Daishichi (left) and the female fighter Miyagino (right) who wants revenge for the death of her Father. Not joined, both sheets signed: Ichijusai Yoshikazu ga. Dated 1854; Condition: Good; Colors: Bright, Impression: Good; Bleedthrough Good; several pin-sized restored wormholes, some mounting residue at the corners where it had been laid down, slightly trimmed.

Both realistically modeled in cast iron. The one on the left with black painted neckplates and the top menacing spike painted aluminum.
