Large Antique Japanese Hand-painted Black Lacquer and Paper Fan with gold foil - Tastefully decorated on the front in soft colors with birds, plum blossoms, a hanging lantern and an inscription - ( Perhaps a Signature), with gold foil edge and maki-e cloud designs - all on a black ground.  The back decorated in gold foil with two stars and a moon, and calligraphy.  Lacquered splats with faint gold sprinkles and black lacquer guards hand-painted in gold with coins and calligraphy, and decorative brass rivets. 

Condition: One small hole ;  three teeny pinholes, and some minor scuffing that would be consistent with age and use.

Ivory Figure of a Sleepy Calligrapher - Nicely carved, shown seated, dozing with a large brush in hand, head to the left resting on his arm.  His robe engraved with a circular pattern.  Signed and strung on a woven cord for wearing as a pendant.  Condition : Excellent; cord has slight wear.
