WOOD TOBAKOBON (SMOKING BOX) Meiji Period
Nice Zelkova Wood Tobakobon (Smoking Box) - The rectangular box nicely constructed with arched side panels and fan-shaped indentions modeled as handles, fitted as a Smoking Box, with a copper (Do) removable raised lip liner, and a bamboo cylinder for refuse; a nice example of Japanese joinery. Unsigned. Condition: Very good as would be commensurate with age and use; dent in the copper receptacle, that when fitted into the box disappears into the side where the receptacle joins the box.
Length: 14 in. Width: 9 in. Height: 7 in. to top of arched side/ 9 in. to top of receptacle.

GENJI MONOGATARI EMAKIMONO 19th. c.
A Fine Tosa School/ Tosa School-Style Painting - Genji Monogatari Emakimono (Illuminated Handscroll) - Signed (Unread) - Depicting a chapter from Genji Monogatari - Yamato-e style (subject matter, often taken from literature, with frequent use of flat planes of rich color, and a number of codified pictorial devices such as fukinuki yatai "room with roof blown away"). It has fine linework, great attention to detail, and brilliant color, with colored and gold flecks. Condition: Excellent, except for a very tiny gold fleck ever so slightly coming away and not noticeable, some slight wrinkling commensurate with Age and some rubbing on the left edge outside the painting.

JAPANESE STORY DOLL MEIJI/TAISHO PERIOD
Japanese Story Doll - late Meiji/ early Taisho Period - the female figure shown kneeling, dressed in elaborate costume, wearing a crown that would befit an Empress, a drum around her neck, holding silk strings tied together attached to a shell, flowers at her feet and a tiny hole in base at the back that may have held other flowers at one time, on a black lacquer gilt decorated base. May represent 'Adventures of the Imperial Court'. Condition: Excellent.
