Fine Antique Japanese Hanging Scroll (Kakejiku) -Portrait of a Priest - Painted in Ink and Colors on Silk - the figure is portrayed as elderly, shown seated, facing left, grasping a five-pronged vajra is his right hand, held directly in front of the chest, his left hand is slightly lowered and holding Prayer Beads; dressed in long robes with drapery folds, a fan in front. Above the figure is approx. a 28-line inscription; mounted on further silk brocade with wood roller ends (Jikusaki). Condition is very good as would be commensurate with age, the sides with some slight uneveness, light soil and very slight wrinkles present.

A Good Red Lacquer Wood-Tray-Table ( Zen ) - Late Meiji/early Taisho Period - the red lacquered wood tray with gilt edge and canted corners, sitting high on two flat panels with squared openings. The underneath is roiro (mirror-black) lacquer. A component of Japanese Banquet culture, an occasion focusing on the enjoyment of good food and drink. It would certainly add to any Collection !
